the report:
Kiltubrid went into an early lead with a goal from captain Aoife McWeeney, and a point from Aine Tighe, but Grainne McGlade replied with a goal for Aughawillan. Both teams fought hard for possession and took their scores well. Kiltubrid finished the first half on top with a score of 4 – 5 to 3 – 3. Aughawillan had the wind in the second half and fought back. It was no place for the faint-hearted as both teams gave it everything. Sinead Byrne scored a great goal to keep us in front going into the last five minutes, but Aughawillan came back and went into a one point lead. In goals Nicole McMahon made some great saves and backs Claire Kelly, Niamh Tighe and Clodagh Foley defended everything that came at them, and got their reward as Kiltubrid scored that winning goal. Sinead McKeon, Sinead Byrne and Rachel Gill and Sub Karen Murray worked hard to win possession up front. At midfield Aine Tighe never stopped running to deny Arva’s Grainne McGlade getting through the defence, and Aoife McWeeney battled it out with Aoife Fox and finished off a great display with the winning goal. After County Chairperson Mary Shanley presented the cup to our Captain Aoife McWeeney.
