Ulster Bank GAA Force
On Saturday morning last we held our Ulster Bank GAA Force Event at the pitch and in the true spirit as to why we won the competition it was a fantastic display of community spirit in all respects.
In the week leading up to the event, various members of our club worked hard to have our facilities looking good and on the Friday night an army of men women and children all came down and gave their time preparing for the day, ladies worked behind the scenes making sandwiches and goodies and all the men who worked around the grounds.
On Saturday morning our amplification man arrived, an army of helpers in Ulster bank tee-shirts all ready and willing to participate in a days work, our Scór na Nog representatives and all of our trainers, players from all various levels, parents, supporters, representatives from Ulster Bank, photographers, video man and our Leitrim Team Manager and so the day commenced.
We started the day with an underage blitz and we followed on from there with various presentations of team medals and awards. We were then entertained by our Scór na Nog representatives and food and refreshments were served, we enrolled the help of many of the ladies and men to do this. Our army of volunteers then took into some of the immediate work, which needed doing at the pitch all of which was captured on camera. While it would be impossible to thank everyone individually Kiltubrid GAA would like to sincerely thank each and every one of the above-mentioned people who came down and made the day the success that it was.
Each person knows the part they played on that day and indeed over the course of the year. We finished off the day with the €35.00 members draw and the winners of this was Fergal Meehan and Barry Doyle.
Leitrim Senior team Manager, Sean Hagan and Louis Walsh from Ulster Bank, presented our award winners and medals, we thank them both for coming along on the day to our celebration.
Our underage player of the year award winners for 2013 were as follows:
Under 18 - Eoin Dolan, Under 16 - Michael Mc Cormack, Under 14 Paddy Kelly. Medals were also presented to the players of the U-13, U-14, U-16 and U 18 teams who all won competitions in their respective grades in 2013. Various underage members who participated in Refereeing and playing during the half time exhibition games in the 2103 All Ireland Series were also presented with awards. These were Laura Redican, Fionn O’Brien, Gary Beirne, Isabella Mc Keown, Chloe Mc Govern as referees and Diarmuid McKiernan as a player at the All Ireland final.
This was all made possible by our winning of the Ulster Bank GAA Force competition and so we would like to again sincerely thank Ulster Bank for their fantastic prize of €25,000 and all their overall generosity to us. We hope that our club will be a hive of activity over the next number of months and that the improvements to our grounds and facilities will be evident to all.
