Mulross Nursing Home
A group of children from Drumcong National School went to entertain the residents in Mulross Nursing Home on Sunday 23rd of October. The children danced, recited poetry and played music. It was such an enjoyable experience for everyone involved. We thank everyone who contributed to organising the event and especially the children and their families who gave up of their time on the day.
Scor Na mBuinscoil
Last Thursday 27th October in St Mary's Hall, our school were represented by large numbers participating at Scor Na mBuinscoil. Twenty seven children from our school participated in either figure dancing, quiz teams, solo music, recitation, novelty act or solo dancing. We were so proud of everyone who performed on the night and well done to all the mentors and parents who worked hard to prepare the children for the night. We also congratulate our quiz team consisting of Emer O Connor, Cian Mc Keon and Kian Gibbons who won on the night.
Scary Football
We promised a night of scary football and scary it certainly was, with very unusual looking players, celebrities, referees and spectators. We would like to thank each and every one that took part especially those who travelled to be with us for the night and played some ridiculous football. Thanks to all who dressed up for the occasion and made it such a laugh. We would like to thank the team captains David Mc Cormack, Barra Mac Thiarnain (aka Pamela), Dermot Heeran, Derek Foley, Anne Mc Nabola Michael Mc Kiernan, James Gill, Mickey Earley and Padraig Lynch. To all our helpers, stewards, Kevin Nealon and Deirdre Ferry who maned the gate, to Margaret Meehan, Deirdre Heeran and Ann Dolan who gave out the soup, to Eilish for the supplying the soup, to Barra Mac Thiarnain for the amplification, to Kathleen Mc Manus and Mary Ruddel for the photos and to Johnny Mc Grath for the DVD. To our very brave referees Derek Moran and Finbarr Keaney who took on such a daunting task. On the night we were delighted to have Jamie Murray and Aine Tighe present. We marked the occasion with a small presentation to both in recognition of their recent achievements at all-Ireland level. Everyone in the club are very proud to have them associated with Kiltubrid. Our golden boot award on the night went to Nav Logan. Thanks also to Fr Brian and Bishop Desmond for giving us their blessing. It was very difficult to pick a winning team on the night because at one stage there was 70 players on the field and although Michael Mc Kiernan brought home the cup and gave a victory speech I think it would be fair to say that all who took part were winners in their own right and if anyone didn’t get a glass to take home we have a few left so please contact Teresa Keaney if you didn’t get one on the night. Sale for Daz has increased dramatically since that night, for this we can thank mainly Mickey Scollan!! To all the captains/ managers who came to meetings and helped organise the event we are very grateful for your participation. Finally thanks to all our spectators whom we couldn’t do it without your support. We hope you all had a good nights entertainment.
