Leitrim V London
After a nail biting match Leitrim came away with a draw on Sunday last in Pairc Sean Mac Diarmuda. The replay has been confirmed for Hyde Park Roscommon (not Hyde Park London) next Sunday at 3.40 pm. This is preceded by the minor championship semi final between Roscommon and Mayo. Congratulations to all involved in the major improvements that were clear to be seen at our county grounds, the crowd barriers, the entrance gates, the new ladies toilet block, the disability lift and many other safety measures which are all there for the good and the safety of us all.
Under 16 league final
Our under 16 team put in a magnificent display to win the league final against a strong Garadice Gales team in a sunny Fenagh on Wednesday evening last. This particular Kiltubrid team have been unlucky over the years and have come out on the wrong side of many finals. However on Wednesday evening the entire team upped their performance when it was needed to claim the league cup in style. Garadice Gaels were quick off the mark going up by 6 points in as many minutes. To Kiltubrids credit they fought back to go in at half time down by 4 points and with it all to do against the hill in the second half. Whatever was in the half time drinks worked wonders, Kiltubrid came alive from the throw in. We started the second half by racing up the field and planting the ball in the back of the net with a well worked three man move. This was the spark that was needed and further key scores quickly followed as Kiltubrid took a firm grip of the game. With man of the match displays being put in all over the field, this one wasn’t let slip and we went from 4 points down at half time to take a deserved victory in the end by 6 points. Captain, Owen Dolan was presented with the cup by Bord Na Nog Chairperson Terence Bolye much to the delight of the large contingent of jubilant Kiltubrid supporters. Well done lads you are a credit to your families & club.
The panel of players are Declan Kelly, Fergal Mc Weeney, Sean Prior, Kian Mc Keon, Connor Prior, Owen Dolan, Michael Mc Cormack, Patrick Meehan, Stephen Mc Loughlin, Paddy Kelly, Niall Crossan, Kian Gibbons, Kevin Lynch, Rinalds Semjanovskis , Ronald Semjanovskis, Mark Mc Mahon, Gary Beirne, Christopher O’Reilly, Diarmuid Mc Thiarnain, James Judge, James Tighe. Also well done to the team mentors of Pat Mc Weeney, Padraig Lynch & Finbarr Keaney. All your hard work in preparing the team over the last few months came good on the night.
Well done also to the Fenagh -St Callians club for having their facilities in splendid condition for the game and thanks for their hospitality the evening before the game..
