Fixtures and results
Both senior & junior league games last weekend fell victim to the wet weather and both were postponed. However the 2013 Senior Championship throw in commences next weekend when we take on Mohill in the first round of the Championship in Carrigallen at 6pm on Saturday evening. Please come along and support the lads on the day.
Our under 16's had a good win away to Drumkeernan on Friday last winning with a few scores to spare at the end. We are fixed to play Bornacoola in Kiltubrid this Wedensday evening at 8 pm. Can all players be on the feild for 7:30 pm.
Underage Blitz
On Saturday last Kieran Lee organised that the underage team from his club, Kill GAA in Kildare to take part in a blitz with the Kiltubrid, Fenagh and Ballinamore underage teams. A lovely day was had by all, thanks firstly to Kieran Lee his team their trainers and the parents who travelled down from Kildare for the day, to Ballinamore GAA Club for the use of their field and facilities, to Fenagh, Ballinamore and Kiltubrid underage players and managment for taking part, to our referees Noel Heeran and Gerry Gallogly, to the sponsors Gallogly catering and Michel Scollan Butcher and last but not least to all the ladies on the day who helped out and provided food and teas ad coffees to everyone.
Allen Gaels Mayor of Drumshanbo
Congratulations to Hubert Mc Cormack on being the newly elected Mayor of Drumshanbo, congratulations also to Oisin Dolan and Sean Mulvey his running mates on a hugely successful campaign and well done to all the hard working teams behind the candidates.
Sympathy
The entire Kiltubrid area was shocked and saddened by the news of the untimely death of Gerry Murray, Liscarbin, we would like to extend our sincere sympathy to Tracey, Neil, Aisling and Karen to the Murray and Mc Kiernan families and to all his extended family and friends our thoughts are with you at this very sad time.
The Club would like to extend its sympathy also to the Mc Gourty Family Rossy on the death of Kathleen Mc Gourty who died on Monday last,may she rest in peace.
The Parish of Kiltubrid also mourned the death of Fr Michael Killian last weekend, Fr Killian was Parish Priest in Kiltubrid for many years and was laid to rest in the grounds of St Brigids Church on Monday last.
Community Games
Drumshanbo area under 10 gaelic team made it to the County Final and the game was played off last Friday 17th May in Allen Gaels pitch. Unfortunately the Carrick Area Team proved to be stronger on the day and will go on to Connacht now. We wish them the best of luck. We also wish to congratulate our boys and girls who played their best and showed great determination. A word of thanks to their coaches too.
Over thirty athletes headed to Manorhamiton last Sunday 19th May for the county finals in track and field events. Well done to all who took part. Futher details and results will be available next week.
Finally, we want to wish all our winners from leitrim who are heading to Athlone next week end 24th-26th May for the Community games national finals. The following children will represent their county in the various sections. Kellie Griffin, Claire Mc Keon, Rabecca Moran and Arina Kuzmiceva are in the singing group, Eadaoin Lee and Iarlaith O Brien are both in the art competition, David Gallagher in the model making, Fionn O Brien, Barry Mc Weeney and Diarmuid Mc Kiernan are all in a mixed distance relay, Laoise Fee and Jack Hearle in swimming. Unfortunately Jack is unable to take part due to an injury he sustained after his county final in swimming. We wish you a speedy recovery and hopefully you will get there this time next year. The very best of luck to all our participants and hopefully you all achieve your potential for your competition.
